I just saw this story about Volvo’s PowerPulse technology. I think it’s something that’s gone through many people’s heads (including my own) to use compressed air to eliminate the gap between pulling away from a light and the turbo spooling up.
Which got me to thinking: This sounds like something that could be accomplished in a pretty redneck way.

I wonder how much power is eaten by that compressor, and if the compressor is smart enough so it’s not constantly cycling.
Neat idea, just wondering how it affects efficiency.

Maybe only turns on when brakes are applied or something?

Possibly, I’d personally like to see more detail on how it works.

This idea keeps me thinking all the time. Someone probably need to disect the volvo one first. Air pump & storage should not be much of a challenge. Command can be tap from acceleration command. Need to know how they position the air nozzle. This stuff is too new for my Thai market, would appreciate if someone got a hand on a scrap. This will definitely be a diy fun stuff for turbo guys, I personally believe.
